The European Steel Association, legally ‘EUROFER AISBL’, represents European steel industry producers on the territory of the European Union.

EUROFER AISBL is an international not-for-profit organisation under Belgian law, based in Brussels. EUROFER’s official address is: 172 Avenue Cortenbergh, 1000, Brussels, Belgium

EUROFER’s members are steel companies and national steel federations based throughout the EU. The national steel federations and major steel companies of Switzerland and Turkey are also associate members.

EUROFER events

EUROFER reserves the right of access to its events or those run by partners on its behalf. EUROFER reserves the right to modify, cancel or change events at any time without notice in any way without warning. Moreover, registrations to EUROFER and partner events can be modified, adapted, rescinded or cancelled at any time without the obligation on EUROFER to explain why or to clarify its reasoning for doing so. If your registration to a EUROFER event is cancelled or changed, we will usually try to inform you. No compensation is due for expenses incurred, nor is EUROFER in any way liable for damages or costs arising from the cancellation or adaptation of a registration to a EUROFER event. EUROFER's decision to modify, adapt, rescind or cancel any registrations is final and without recourse. If EUROFER has to delete your registration, your information will generally also be deleted in line with applicable rules and according to EUROFER's data privacy policy.

EUROFER complies with EU data privacy rules as set out, inter alia, by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including as regards processing of personal data. If you believe EUROFER holds personal information about you, you are entitled to request this from us.

Use of the website

EUROFER AISBL uses cookies to personalise content, to provide social media features, and to analyse traffic to and from the EUROFER website.

How and why EUROFER processes personal data:

• The data we collect can include your organisation’s name, job title, first name, last name, telephone number, billing address, e-mail, photo, bio (if you are a speaker at one of our events), as well as where applicable, attendance at our meetings or events

• Generally, we collect personal data directly from you, but we may sometimes obtain personal data from third parties such as directories or EU institutions websites

• As a EUROFER member or as an external stakeholder you may provide us with personal data information when using our website, interacting with us on social media, registering for events or subscribing to updates about our organisation (for instance, via our mailing lists)

• The information that you provide us with will be used for the purpose of contacting you, fulfilling your online requests or providing you with relevant and updated information about our organisation, its activities and positions.

• EUROFER processes data for a variety of purposes, including membership, advocacy, media and journalistic, events and for information.

  • Membership: EUROFER processes personal data of the contact persons of its members for the purpose of administering or informing its membership or for the governance of the association. EUROFER also processes the personal data of representatives and contact persons of entities which have contractual obligations towards EUROFER, such as services providers or consultancies.

  • Advocacy: EUROFER, in its capacity as a trade association, conducts advocacy activities – which is to say: representing the interests of the European steel industry. The association, therefore, processes contact details of journalists, Members of European Parliament, officials from the European Commission and from EU Member States, academics, consultants and industry experts.

  • Events: EUROFER runs regular events which require registration, and sometimes payment, by attendees. This process requires data to be processed in the creation of attendance lists, organisational purposes, security and compliance needs.

  • Informational: EUROFER processes the data of individuals that expressly register to receive information from EUROFER through its various mailing lists. These can be unsubscribed from at any time.

• EUROFER will not share your data with third parties, including with EUROFER member companies, unless required for the performance of certain duties (for instance, if you are the speaker at an event being organised by EUROFER, etc). EUROFER will never share your data with third parties for commercial reasons;

• EUROFER will provide you with the personal data it has on file for you in a structured, machine-readable format on written request of the person concerned;

• EUROFER will rectify, modify or completely delete your data on written request by the person concerned if the personal data is incorrect or incomplete;

• You can object to the processing of your personal data by EUROFER at any time.

• You have the right to obtain restriction of processing of your personal data. This right only applies in certain circumstances. You have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data in the following circumstances:

  • You contest the accuracy of the personal data;

  • The processing of your personal data is unlawful and you oppose the erasure of the personal data and requests the restriction instead;

  • EUROFER no longer needs your personal data for the purposes of the processing, but the personal data are required by you for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims;

  • You object to processing, pending the verification whether the legitimate grounds of EUROFER override yours.
